Born in China,Hanqing Zhou began his musical training as a pianist since he was 3 years old. He kept honing his craft and developing his musical artistry as a pianist until the moment he was discovered by the Chinese Opera professor Zhenhua Chang in Ningbo University when he was 16, therefore he was convinced to become an Opera singer to maximize his artistic potential.


From 2015 to 2022, he was one of the classical singing students in Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and obtained his master diploma. He is vocally trained by internationally renowned Dutch Soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek and tenor Frank van Aken. He has performed numerous concerts in the major concert halls in the Netherlands and China, such as Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Leiden Gehoorzaal, Haarlem Gehoorzaal, Zuiderstrand Theater Den Haag, TivoliVredenburg Utrecht and so on. He has worked with Leiden Sinfonietta, Residentie Orkest, Utrechts Studenten Koor en Orkest, Radio Filharmonisch Orkest in different projects. He was invited in 2017 and 2018 to sing in the Chinese new year celebration gala in the city hall of Den Haag with the Chinese Soprano Xiaolan Ji. He was also invited by CNTV to sing in the Chinese new year celebration gala in 2021 and 2022 in live broadcast which was watched by the audience who live in 69 countries around the world. He was invited to sing Bass aria “La calunnia è un venticello” in the the gala performance of “Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial diplomatic relations between China and the Netherlands by Dutch overseas Chinese Community” in 2022. His repertoires include the roles of Figaro (Le Nozze di Figaro), Zarastro (die Zauberflöte), Colline (La Bohème), Zoroastro (Orlando), Masetto (Don Giovanni), Raphaël (Die Schöpfung), Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Moses (die Israeliten in der Wüste). In the opera season 2021-2022, he made his role debut of Uberto in Pergolesi’s La serva Padrona directed by David Prins. and he also made his role debut as Sprecher in DNOA’s new produtcion die Zauberflöte with Residentie Orkest conducted by Patrick Lange and directed by Gabriele Rech. He has also made his role debut of Dottore Grenvil in the new production of La Traviata in Festival Classique 2022 directed by Sybrand van der Werf.  His Lieder recitals are also greatly valued by the audience, repertoires include the art songs and Lieder composed by F. Schubert, R. Schumann, R. Strauss, S. Rachmaninoff, H. Duparc and so on.
